meshcloud becomes a member of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF)
Clear commitment to open source: meshcloud, a German platform engineering company, advocates for cloud-native standards and digital sovereignty.
Frankfurt / London – meshcloud is now an official member of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) and The Linux Foundation. By joining, meshcloud reaffirms its commitment to open standards and a strong, community-driven cloud-native ecosystem.
Why CNCF
The Cloud Native Computing Foundation is the central hub for cloud-native innovation, bringing together leading companies and communities around technologies such as Kubernetes, OpenTofu ecosystems, and modern platform architectures.
meshcloud shares the belief that open and standardized technologies form the foundation for scalable, secure, and sustainable platforms. Membership enables meshcloud to play a more active role in advancing best practices, reference architectures, and the cloud-native stack.
Internal Developer Platform (IDP) & Golden Paths
A key component of meshcloud’s commitment to digital sovereignty and open standards is meshStack, a sovereign internal developer platform (IDP) that enables organizations to operate their software products efficiently and securely. Through open interfaces and a broad integration portfolio, organizations can flexibly build and operate customized technology stacks on the platform.
As a unified control plane, meshStack supports the use of and easy switching between various cloud providers, including AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, as well as European providers such as IONOS, STACKIT, and OUTSCALE. At the same time, meshStack enables the introduction of standardized “golden paths” to harmonize infrastructure.
Commitment to open standards & sovereignty
Individual building blocks are defined as OpenTofu modules in the meshStack Hub and provided via a central marketplace. This reduces configuration complexity and increases standardization. The goal is to give platform and application teams fast, secure, and consistent access to cloud resources.
The meshStack Hub includes:
- Ready-to-use modules, for example for provisioning encrypted AWS S3 buckets with logging enabled
- Integration of numerous providers, reflecting a strong commitment to technology freedom and digital sovereignty
- High reusability and easy extensibility through open source
All modules are publicly available and can be integrated directly into your own platform via hub.meshcloud.io.
In an increasingly geopolitically shaped environment, meshcloud focuses on sovereign platform engineering. With its membership in the Cloud Native Computing Foundation, the company strengthens its commitment to an open cloud-native ecosystem and supports organizations in building modern, standards-compliant, and future-proof platforms.
Standardized self-service components, clear governance rules, and open technologies ensure control over cloud resources and operating models, enabling technologically independent operation of complex cloud landscapes.
KubeCon Europe & Platform Engineering Community
To mark its new CNCF membership, meshcloud will expand its presence at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe 2026 in Amsterdam from March 23 to 26, 2026. Visitors can learn about the latest developments in sovereign platform engineering on site.
In addition, meshcloud announces increased engagement in the CNCF Platform Engineering Technical Community as well as in the local CNCF group in Frankfurt am Main.
